casa onze proudly receives Diedrick Brackens in its third cycle of residencies, which takes place from June to August 2026. This will be the first itinerant cycle: in addition to the period at casa onze in São Paulo, the residency incorporates the artist's travels to Salvador and Rio de Janeiro.
Diedrick Brackens approaches weaving as a poetic space of transformation, where threads become vehicles for imagining alternative forms of kinship, desire, and belonging. Moving fluidly between figuration and abstraction, his tapestries draw on mythology, memory, and folklore to construct narratives that resist fixed identities. Through the open, accumulative logic of weaving, Brackens articulates queer and Black experiences as sites of freedom, multiplicity, and continual becoming.
This cycle also presents a renewed group of onze amigos, designed based on the artist's interests, offering a structure focused on social and cultural immersion, which includes conversations and meetings aimed at supporting the introduction of Brackens to local artistic contexts and Afro-Brazilian queer culture.
